The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) being the latest example, authorities are (rightfully) putting some boundaries to the data collected in online experiences, how the consent to the use of such data should be easily withdrawn or how information should be presented as clear as possible. 

🤔 Key Info : All content that describes how Greenpeace is structured, the way we deal with Cookies and Privacy of the website visitors  and supporters, any image / media restriction usage and all fundraising information MUST be validated by a legal partner before releasing a new website.

Privacy

It is fundamental to have a Privacy Policy on any Greenpeace website, describing our belief in the fundamental right to privacy on the web, and how we work to protect the users’  online security. This text MUST be approved by your legal department, and should mention at the very least:

Community Policy

In this section users must find how the website is moderated, what are the terms and conditions of commenting, which rules must be followed in case people want to comment or contribute, who can they contact and so on.

The Greenpeace structure

We are increasingly seeing Corporations attempting to conflate independent Greenpeace entities as a means of attacking the entire Greenpeace network.  This is a potential risk for the Greenpeace network but one can be easily avoided by having a clear text on all Greenpeace websites explaining how the Greenpeace network is structured and who controls each part of the website. Such text needs to be findable by anyone looking for it.

See two text samples below we would really like to see on P4 to explain the structure of the Greenpeace network:

See New Zealand, India as English examples, Canada in French, Mexico as Spanish:

Greenpeace is a network consisting of Greenpeace International and 27 independent national and regional Greenpeace organisations.

The content on each subsection of greenpeace.org/xxxxxx/ is published and managed by the relevant entity. Pages whose address begins with http://www.greenpeace.org/[NAME OF COUNTRY], for example, are under the editorial control of [NAME OF RESPONSIBLE ENTITY – CAN EITHER BE NRO AS A WHOLE, OR NATIONAL-LEVEL ENTITY OF REGIONAL NRO]. For questions, comments or other feedback, please contact the responsible Greenpeace entity. You can generally see at the top of each page which entity’s section you are on.

For the sake of convenience, we may refer to “Greenpeace” on this website when talking about either Greenpeace International or one of the national or regional Greenpeace organisations.
