💡 Idea meeting outcomes – May 2021 – It’s a GO, but will be split in 2

The idea will be split in 2:

  1. Define an Activity log → Definitely a GO (needs to refine requirements that needs to be strictly related to any change logs that are currently not being tracked.) – PLANET-5154
  2. Advanced reporting → Investigate feasibility (all posts / all pages improvements) – PLANET-5155

RECAP from Community feedback: General feeling this could be useful to understand anything not pulled out in Google Analytics or DataStudio. Perhaps we can consider an additional screen, along the lines of Open Social on-site stats?  /admin/reports/social-kpi
PROs CONs
  • Need is clear and identified
  • The basics extra stats (post visibility, draft / pending status, N of comments) are easy to add to the posts / pages overview screen
  • Needs refinement of the requirements on the content-related information required
    • E.g. how would we visualize the changes to post Settings, (excerpt, Open Graph/Social, etc)?
  • May involve some work, especially if we have to design a whole new dashboard screen
P4 tech team gut-feeling recommendation →

As the first idea, this seems to be useful to big offices with a large amount of content. Replicating what we did with the Blocks usage report, we could normally pull something out or eventually integrate the post/pages overviews.

Notes: More related to version history. GPI had queries from Legal in the past that we can’t answer to (e.g. was this company ever explicitly mentioned in the post?) – with the current reporting, we can’t answer this Q, because there are elements we can’t see now (changes in OG graphs / title / URLs / excerpt can’t be checked…) . Perhaps an “Activity log” to admins would help? plugin

For full annual reporting purposes it would be great to have consolidated Ns.

Decision → Split the requirements in 2:

1- Activity log → DO + refine requirements that needs to be strictly related to any change logs that are currently not being tracked.

2- Advanced reporting → Investigate feasibility (all posts / all pages improvements)

As an Admin I want to run a report that displays the status of Posts and Pages over a specific time period (e.g. Last 30 days, Last 7 days, Yesterday, Today, Date-to-Date time span).

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Status = Published.

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Status = Pending Review.

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Status = Draft.

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Status = Expired (when a stop publish date feature eventually becomes available).

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Visibility = Public.

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Visibility = Password Protected.

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Visibility = Private.

As an Admin I want to be able to see which Posts/Pages have Revisions.

As an Admin I want to be able to select a Post/Page from the list of report results to open it in Edit mode.

As an Editor I want to be able to see every element of a Post that has Changed: Title, Permalink, Content, Open Graph/Social Fields, Post Articles Element Fields, Excerpt, Author, Featured Image, Page Types, Tags, Categories, Visibility, Status.

As an Editor I want to be able to see every element of a Page that has Changed: Title, Permalink, Content, Open Graph/Social Fields, Page Header Fields, Excerpt, Campaign Information (dataLayer), Featured Image, Page Attributes, Tags, Categories, Visibility, Status.

…off the top of my head
