Features 🛠
PLANET-7109 – Upgrade to WordPress 6.2
- Say hello to WordPress 6.2 “Dolphy”! 👋🎺
Did you know the name Dolphy was given due to the woodwind jazz wiz, the multi-instrumentalist Eric Allan Dolphy Jr. He is acclaimed for having brought the bass clarinet to prominence in the jazz scene, creating a place for the flute and extending the lexicon of the alto saxophone.
This last version of WordPress reimagines the website editing experience, introduces more ways to style, and offers a new distraction-free way to write. For this new version, we have followed up on the ServeSideRender, which is a component used for server-side rendering of a preview of dynamic blocks to display in the editor. It has been moved to its own package/script in WordPress 5.3 and has been deprecated since. Now in WordPress 6.2, you should be able to access it directly.
Another important upgrade coming with this new version is the template types property; it will allow pattern developers to specify which templates their patterns fit in. This is a backend-only update.
You can check PLANET-7153 to follow up on WordPress 6.2 deprecations.
PLANET-7157 – Harmonise search input
- Harmonisation seems kind of a trend now, right? It would not be different for Planet 4. The Navigation bar and search page had different clear buttons, but we aim to keep consistency and centralisation for both search inputs, so the design team has chosen the one from the Navigation bar input. And it is now done!
Bug Fixes 🐞
PLANET-7149 – Form submit button lacks styling
- Since the child theme replaces the input with a button, our current selector looks for input specifically for the styles! So we needed to change it for the id instead, and now it is solved. Yay!
PLANET-7143 – Paginated listing pages spacing issue in RTL sites
- It should have some space between the image and the text, and now it has!
