v26.1 | Looking Back at 2025, Screen Reader Improvements, Bug Fixes and More!

Bonjour and a Happy New Year! Here we go with another year on Planet 4! In this first Sprint of 2026, we look back at the what we’ve accomplished last year, and released a first v26. Those include accessibility improvements, bug fixes and more. Let’s do this:

This was 2025 👍

Happy New Year from the Planet 4 Team! Now that 2025 has come to an end, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year and celebrate one of the ways we get the Greenpeace message out there: through our websites. You’ve heard of “Spotify Wrapped”, “Youtube Rewind’, and you might have even gotten a Year in Review from your bank…now it’s Planet 4s turn!

We ended the year with 51 different Planet 4 Websites, and on those websites you created…
8455 new Posts that told stories, provided invaluable information, and guided our supporters
953 new Pages that housed petitions, quizzes, maps, reports, and more!

These websites were a humongous avenue to garner the support that allows us to Stop Deep Sea Mining, Protect the Amazon, and Resist!

We reached 107,193 Donors who graciously contributed 10,809,031€ in donations. Our petitions were signed 8.1 Million times (that’s almost the whole population of Switzerland!) and shared 93 Thousand times! (Fun Fact: The most signed petition was Italy’s push to Stop Intensive Farming and the most supported Global Campaign was our mission to Protect the Amazon!)

We reached a LOT of people 🌎

24.1 Million Users to be exact (at least, that’s how many accepted cookies!). Some of those years visited the websites multiple times leading to 31 MillionSessions (that’s almost the population of Madagascar!). And of course, none of this could have happened without you, who care about Planet 4 just as much as we do. This year we received 10 New and Amazing ideas to improve Planet 4 (have others? Submit them here!)

PLANET-8086 Display P4 announcements in the Admin dashboard

An announcement, about announcements! The P4 team can now display content on all websites their Dashboard (meaning in the backend, we’re not taking over your website itself). Look out for messages from the team, they will look like this:

PLANET-8042 Footer block accessibility: On mobile, name the opened panel: Worldwide site list

More footer improvements for mobile! Screen readers now announce it when the panel of “worldwide site list” has been opened.

PLANET-8029 Main navigation menu accessibility: add a clear accessible name to the landmark

The main menus also received some accessibility improvements for screen readers on mobile. This thanks to properly labeling navigation containers. They are now read as followed:

Header: “Primary navigation”
Footer: “Footer navigation”

PLANET-7983 Header logo: Use specific – Greenpeace [site name] home – screen reader label across all sites

Again for screen readers: The Greenpeace header logo received an updated label as it wasn’t specific enough and caused some confusion. Now a screen reader will read out: Greenpeace [Site name] home (with your country instead of the “site name”).
