Important info for Mixpanel Users 🚨

On Aug 18-19 a Planet 4 release tightened the Content-Security-Policy header on www.greenpeace.org that is affecting Custom Jasvascript Variables implemented in GTM. We are working on a solution for variables that are used for Mixpanel, but if you have additional CJS variables they are likely affected the same way.

PLANET-8264 Add sidebar options for customizing meta tags

You can now fully customize your Meta Title and Meta Description natively. No SEO plugins required!

Whenever your page appears in search engine results, it displays a Search Snippet (the clickable title and summary paragraph directly below it). You can now tailor this text specifically for Google and search engines, completely separate from what appears on your site or social media feeds.

How the Fallback Hierarchy Works

Don’t worry about blank fields! If you leave a meta tag empty, the system automatically falls back to the next available option in line:

For Meta Titles:

Meta Title > Open Graph Title > Plugin Title > Post Title

For Meta Descriptions:

Meta Description > Open Graph Description > Post Excerpt > Any Plugin Description

Note: The system checks each field in order. If the first choice is empty, it seamlessly uses the next one down as the fallback.

PLANET-8249 News & stories page accessibility: Screen Reader Heading for Featured section

We’ve made a quick accessibility fix so our site is more welcoming and easy to navigate for everyone! For folks using screen readers, assistive tools that read web pages out loud, there was no title announcing the “Featured blocks” section, making it tricky to know where they were on the page.

To fix this, we added a hidden heading titled “Featured articles” right above the section; it stays completely invisible to keep our site design clean for visual visitors, but screen readers will now announce it clearly so visually impaired visitors always know what they’re exploring.

PLANET-8206 New Timeline block: scroll to the right year on load based on URL

Previously, when clicking a direct link to a specific year on a timeline (like #2012), the page would open at the very beginning of the timeline instead of jumping to that year. Now, as soon as the page loads, the timeline automatically scrolls straight to the requested year, making sharing and navigating historical moments much smoother.
