We are introducing a new feature in Planet 4 that gives you full control over how dates and time are displayed on your published posts.
Why is this important?
- User Trust & Live News Coverage: Showing publication and update timestamps reassures readers that information is current, builds credibility, and avoids confusion around outdated news.
- SEO, AEO & AI Crawlers: Highlighting content freshness helps search engines and AI tools recognize, prioritize, and accurately cite recently updated articles summaries.
What is changing?
- Default setting: Every post will continue to display its original Published Date by default
- New capability: You will have the option to display the Last Updated Date Instead (and optionally add the exact time).

PLANET-8332 Media Replacer: add nonce, capability authorization and enforce filetype
In short: There was a security vulnerability in the Planet 4 WordPress theme that could have allowed almost any logged-in user to replace files in the website’s media library, even if they shouldn’t have permission to do so. And that’s potentially quite serious. So, a number of proper security checks have been added to prevent this.
PLANET-8307 Carousel Header: disable lazy-loading on first slide image
Performance improvements! Improving LCP (LCP stands for Largest Contentful Paint, meaning one of Google’s Core Web Vitals, which measure how well a website performs from a visitor’s perspective) to avoid any lazy-loading mechanism on the biggest asset/image that is above the fold while rendering.
PLANET-8298 Disable Heading block level 1 in the editor
Making sure that Editors don’t add extra H1 to Pages, because this would be bad for accessibility and SEO. The only H1 on the page should be the page header.
