Many Web Editors find the process of adding a Gravatar to their Author bios cumbersome.
Either they do not have the internet bandwidth (ships personnel), the time (EDs), or the technical capacity (new users).
Allowing for Google profile photos to be used as avatars means Editors would no longer have to create a separate Gravatar profile.
