The much awaited moment has come! Today Gutenberg has been released to all P4 sites, live or the ones still implementing!
Gutenberg is a modular interface, WordPress’ new user interface (UI), making content generation more intuitive and allowing instant visualisation while creating content. P4 editors will now switch from the classic editor to a clean whiteboard with “Lego-style” blocks to stack together, while building beautiful posts or pages.
Everything you need to know about the Gutenberg editor:
- Gutenberg editor is temporarily disabling only the native blocks whose functionality was already provided by the P4 ones or that badly broke in the front-end.
- if you did not attend any of the trainings with the P4 team, please have a look at this intro video where Luca talks about the main differences between the classic editor and the Gutenberg editor
- if you spot any bugs, please first check if they are already on this list (you need an account to be able to see all the bugs related to this topic). If they are not, please send an email to Global IT with as many details as possible and screenshots/ GIFs/ videos.
- if you need to edit posts which were built with the classic editor, there is a thing to do before being able to edit it. Here you find indications on how to convert a post which was created in the classic editor to Gutenberg blocks
- the documentation in the Handbook has been already updated with info about the Gutenberg editor. May you come across some outdated info, please feel free to edit accordingly
- make sure editors in your office are trained in using the Gutenberg editor. If you need any more support on this, just let the P4 team know.
