Monday is a good day to release, and today the P4  Team made a few funky changes to the Product:

Release v1.14 (23/4/2018)

  • PLANET-1695 Design changes on “Post Comment” and “Reply” buttons
  • PLANET-1941 Sitemap (initial version) to improve Accessibility

    • There is a first step to obtain a dynamically-populated sitemap, ideally accessible from each P4 footer. The sitemap pulls out the page titles and their parents. Want to see an example? Go all the way at the bottom of this Handbook and check the button SITEMAP
  • PLANET-1943 Initial version of “Submenu” block
    • Do you like the “List of content” of any document? An automatically-populated “In Page Menu” that bookmarks subtitles allowing you to jump right away to a specific piece of content? That’s what this is, and will be available via a Block, called “Submenu”. Want to see a live example? Check the list of P4 plugins or the Tech Intro
  • PLANET-2055 Don’t count pings, count only comments
    • Why was the system counting pings (= diagnostics) as comments? Unclear. The important is that now it doesn’t. Here’s the plugin github review
  • PLANET-2056 Fix Happy Point point cut-off on small devices
    • A “subscribe” form (our Block: Happy Point) does not really make you happy if it cuts on you tablet. Well, it won’t anymore.
  • PLANET-2057 Fix Happy Point alignment and size issues
    • The Block: Happy Point was getting cut in some Pages when accessed by a tablet-wide screen. Our developers did their magic and fixed it.
  • PLANET-2067 Make WPML not to break p4 settings
    • Our Indian colleagues will be the pilots of a Multi-lingual P4, using a plugin called WPML. Unfortunately, this plugin did not like some P4 features and was creating troubles. We had them to talk each other out, and now they are good buddies. More on setting up a Multi-Language P4 Site

Release v1.15 (30/4/2018)

  • PLANET-2037 Refactor Happy Point iFrame to load only when visible
    • The subscribe iframe in the Block: Happy Point was not glad to show up if the users had a huge screen that didn’t make them scroll down. Now it does, in all its greatness.
  • PLANET-2043 Remove border radius from all buttons
    • The border-radius CSS property rounds the corners of an element’s outer border edge. We got rid of it, not because we are square, but ’cause it looks way funkier.
  • PLANET-2050 Back-end implementation of Submenu variations
    • Remember the above-mentioned Submenu block? This issue is to define how we will make it more awesome from a back-end perspective
  • PLANET-2051 Front-end implementation of Submenu variations
    • Same as above, only on the front-end side of the moon. A-hem, Planet.
  • PLANET-2090 Split two column block: Special characters in Tag name is encoded
    • Our Block: split two columns did not like Tags with special characters (such as &, % or @), we fixed it, tested with Food & Farming, and now it works. Even with Rock & Roll.
  • PLANET-2093 Update Font-Awesome to 5.0.10
    • We did not have an Icon Font on the site. We do now. Also, check how awesome Hindi looks >> हेलो सब लोग!
  • PLANET-2095 Use Planet 4 settings for take action boxout button text
    • When Setting up P4 Settings, the command for the “Take Action Cover” was defining content for the Take Action Covers block only. Now it defines the button for all places where the card appears. Which means that if you put, for example, “GET INVOLVED” as the button text, it will appear not only in the Covers block but also in Search Results and on Posts.
  • PLANET-2098 Fix load more button in take action covers
    • If a Tag had more than 1 Row of Take Action cards there was no “Load More” button to show all the available opportunities to do something in relation to that Tag. Now it does. Want to see a live example? Check #Admin in this Handbook
  • PLANET-2099 Fix post images and captions width
  • PLANET-2125 Append Credit to image caption for embedded images
    • It’s fundamental to Credit the Authors’ of our amazing collection of images. Now the system works perfectly, given that the Credit field is populated. More on #visuals
