Release v1.32 – 11 new Strings | HTML in authors’ bios | WP / GP Media Library fixes

With the Product team heavily supporting implementations, most of the tickets that made up sprint #62 are about bugs or related to translations / multi-language setups. Improvements to authors’ bios and the recently released “Post Type” pages are also out and building up for the upcoming ones..

Release v1.32 (07/11/2018)

• PLANET 2636 – User Profile: allow for HTML in bio (New feature!) 
  • P4 editors are now able to add HTML to their bios, while editing their P4 profile. The Editor of WordPress bio is not a classic WYSIWYG, so to add links to their bios, editors should write it like  <a href=”YOURLINK“>your text</a>.

• PLANET 2731 –Adjust all PHPCS linting errors 
  • Continuous Integration jobs were failing on our plugin-blocks due to some errors. Not anymore, baby! Check CircleCi for more info..

Language / translations / strings / country menu improvements ??????????

• PLANET 2840 – Update language template files for master theme
  • A bunch of strings were missing from the Master theme template..
    • Frontend >> Posts by | Results | Toggle navigation menu | Toggle search box | Toggle worldwide site selection menu | Your comment|  Your email |  Your Name
    • Backend >> Open Graph/Social Fields
  • hitting “Sync” your P4 version will get updated, showing the new strings in Bold (see image below)

• PLANET 2505 – String translation: ‘Search’ on 404 page (bug fix!)
  • The ‘Search’ strings in 404 pages were not translated according to what web editors did in Translate P4 / Loco. Now they look like Busca, Rechercher, αναζήτηση and so on…
• PLANET 2726 – String translation: Comments (bug fix!)
  • Last bug related to the new strings added and to some tweaks to be done in Loco. All translations should appear properly now!
• PLANET 2834 –Add ‘Luxembourg (Deutsch)’ to country selector and PLANET 2523 –Menu: fix typo in Slovakia (bug fix!)
  • The country selector only showed the French option of the P4 Luxembourg site, its magnificent German (“Deutsch”)  version has now been added
  • Additionally, the language for the Greenpeace Slovakian site was not correct, we changed it to Slovakia (Slovensko) – was Slovakia (Slovenčina). Prepáč!

“Post Type” pages / wrappers improvements ?

• PLANET 2821 – Remove “Page Types” string from page title on Page Types pages 
  • Remember the “Post Type” pages released recently? Well, we removed the string from the title..
• PLANET 2819 –Author URL not redirecting in “Post Type” Pages (bug fix!)
  • The page type wrapper which consolidates all posts of the same type was not redirecting to the author profile page, but loading the page… all good now, Author’s names redirect to their Profile Page

Image rendering / WordPress Media / GP Media Library improvements ?

• PLANET 2172 – Pages: Images not resizing on mobile (bug fix!)
  • We had tiny issues with photo rendering on mobiles, which were not resized properly in mobile in some cases even extending beyond the footer.
• PLANET 2193 –Media Library: Search not working in List view  (bug fix!)
  • Improvement to the P4 Media Library,  which can now be managed in both List and Grid views (See > Images & Videos)

• PLANET 2638 – Pages: Images cut on small screens (bug fix!)
  • The last image rendering bug we had to fix in this release.. For some reasons, images were not rendered in all their glory on mobile devices. Not anymore.
• PLANET 2650 – Media: Upload from GPI Media Library button not working in all situations (bug fix!)
  • A few improvement to our Media Library integration! Images from the awesome Greenpeace Media library can now be properly included in most Body and Blocks. This ticket generated a follow-up ticket, PLANET 2846, which we are still working on.

Other bugs ?

• PLANET 2808 – Date format in shown articles block not following site’s settings (bug fix!)
  • For some reasons the Date Format was not shown the same way everywhere.. All good now (see >> Set Up the P4 Settings for more)

• PLANET 2494 –Social Share: Facebook excerpt getting cut if there are special characters (bug fix!)
  • Tiny issues with Facebook excerpt in case posts or pages were using special characters such as & % @ –  the FB was being cut. All good now, the recently released “Open Graph / Social Fields”  to customise Meta Data for Social Sharing buttons are also working perfectly!
